Low Income Board Member Election Contact West CAP West CAP Homepage

West CAP
(West Central WI Community Action Agency, Inc.), founded in 1965, operates a number of federal, state and locally funded programs designed to help low-income persons increase their self reliance.  West CAP is currently recruiting low income candidates for its Board of Directors to represent our seven county service area.  One third of West CAP's twenty-one member board is selected by low-income persons from their county, and the candidates must be low-income and live in the county they represent.  West CAP's service area is Barron, Chippewa, Dunn, Pepin, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties.

The low income Board positions are for a two-year term and are elected through a mail ballot process. West CAP Board meetings are held once a month, 10 times per year.  Board members participate in program development, grant review, review of financial condition, and have the opportunity to attend annual Board training.   Low-income Board members receive a meeting allowance, day care and mileage reimbursement.

If you or someone you know is interested in being a candidate and/or would like to receive a mail ballot to vote for the low-income representative for the West CAP Board of Directors in your county, please contact West CAP at 1-800-606-9227 or 715/265-4271. The candidate interest form may be downloaded here.
