Applying for Assistance

Step 1: Start by calling our main office at 800-606-9227. You will be asked to provide basic information about yourself and your needs. This information will then be referred to a Family Services or Housing specialist.

Step 2: You will be contacted to complete the application process and determine whether you are eligible to receive assistance. You will need to provide information about your situation – for example, a copy of eviction notice, past due rent notice, utility shutoff notice, statement from a shelter.

Step 3: If you are eligible, you will either receive assistance or be placed on the waiting list, depending upon the rules set by the funding source for each program.

If you are not eligible, our staff will refer you to other sources of assistance in your community. We will also explain to you why you are not eligible.

Step 4: If you receive assistance, you will need to agree to follow the rules that are set for each program and to participate in the self-help counseling that may be provided.

Step 5: In some cases, you may be asked to help repay part or all the assistance when you are more financially stable. This helps West CAP provide funds to more families in needs.
